Abhiroop Basu, 26 is an award-winning Director and Screenwriter based out of Calcutta, India. A student of South Point High School and St. Xavier’s College Calcutta, Abhiroop went on to study films at the prestigious Prague Film School, Czech Republic and further did a masterclass on screenwriting with Iranian Filmmaker Mani Haghighi. Abhiroop was also chosen to take part in a select international filmmaking programme at Alt Studio Tuscany, Italy. His 11 min dialogue-less short ‘Meal’ starring Adil Hussain went on to over 50 International film festivals worldwide and was the only Indian entry at the 44th Oscar Qualifying Odense International Film Festival, Denmark. His upcoming work includes the highly awaited Pankaj Tripathi starrer ‘Laali’ and his experimental English language feature ‘Sisyphus’.
