Dear Jassi is a drama film, directed by Tarsem Singh. A coproduction of companies from India, Canada and the United States, the film is based on the real-life story of Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu, a Punjabi Canadian woman who ran afoul of her family when she fell in love with and chose to marry a working-class man they did not approve of.

Born in Jalandhar, India, TARSEM SINGH is the award-winning director of “The Cell”, "The Fall", “Immortals", "Mirror Mirror" and "Self/Less". He also directed legendary music videos and commercials. His groundbreaking video for R.E.M.’s "Losing My Religion" won six MTV Video Music Awards, including ‘Video of the Year’. He has created videos for artists including Lady Gaga, Suzanne Vega, and En Vogue. Among his most well-known television commercials is the Pepsi “We Will Rock You” campaign, featuring Britney Spears, Pink and Beyoncé. Singh studied Film at the Art Center College of Design in California.
